Academic
Building
One of the most
recognized images of Texas A&M, the Academic Building stands
at the heart of the campus. Completed in 1914, it stands on
the site of Old Main, the first campus building that burned
in 1912. Academic Plaza, directly in front of the building,
is the site of a wide range of campus events including Silver
Taps. The Silver Taps ceremony, held monthly during the Fall
and Spring Semesters, pays tribute to any enrolled students
who have died since the previous ceremony.
